James McAvoy is being considered for the lead role in the J.R.R. Tolkien's novel The Hobbit. The movie which is a prequel to the Lord Of The Rings movies.
Sir Ian Holm played the role of Bilbo Baggins in the LOTR movies but they need a younger actor for the prequels. A source said "A number of names have privately been doing the rounds, including Daniel Radcliffe and Jack Black, but James is the one the film's bosses really want."
Director of the movie Guillermo del Toro, recently said "I can tell you it's down to a few names that we all agree upon. For our first choice, completely magically, we all said the same name."
Filming is set to begin in New Zealand towards the end of the year and Sir Ian McKellen will once again take on the role as Gandalf.
